Oppo-Urbanites, how much do you pay for secured parking in your city?

Kinja'd!!!

So I bought a thing and now have to give up ‘ somewhat-unlimited- free -secured’ parking.

The new home is a typical condominium unit in a development that allocates one secured parking spot per unit, additional parking is available for about $900 per annum (in a city where minimum wage is $9 per day) .

Either I cough up $1800 per annum extra or the Hiluxs needs to go. What will you do?

*Frankly, I don’t need the pickup trucks since adopting telecommuting and relocating to a more accessible location within the clusterfucked city limits. Only sentimental reasons had me hold on to them.

I’m not an Urbanite but what country would this be in. Because I might want that Hilux if you can’t keep it.

Is that per year? $900 for a year isn't bad, honestly. I was paying $100 a month in Chicago just for a spot out in the open, not secured in the slightest.

Darn 25 year limit and chicken tax... I don’t know how it is over there but surely you could find a storage place to keep them for cheaper then the extra space cost.

It is $900 per year.

I reckon $100 per month for in major US city is the norm?

the town over from me charges $200-400 a month just to park during the day (permit spots in all streets and lots by the train).

Another town by me charges 600-800 a year to park in lots for the train station

Already had a couple of interesting offers from my neighbors, the rational bastard sitting on my shoulder is echoing your sentiments.

I’ve contemplated that option but it turns out it’s more secured in secured parking to store extra vehicles, a common practice here for ‘urbanite car collectors’. ¯\_()_/¯

I could rent a cheaper secured parking elsewhere ($500 per year & half hour drive away through traffic) and sacrifice the immediate access to the pickups whenever I please.

$100/month for indoor parking would be cheap in Chicago. it probably starts at double that. Inhave a condo with a deeded parking space that cost $10,000 up front and the assessments are $75/month.

Sell one, keep the other at the cheaper distant location for the times when you need one.

Unless you know someone that can loan one to you, then sell both and just borrow it when you need it. I have this deal with my girlfriend’s dad, so I don’t even need a truck.
